I can now announce what I have been working on for the past couple of months... Presenting big drum roll please ..... The Photo Fun Package!!!!!

Some of my bride and grooms who I photographed during December and January will be well aware of this service and some of the recommendations from people who got married in 2008/2009 will have seen this before (it's not actually a new service it's just been revamped after several years in the wilderness). Completely new props and back drops, new fun based approach, lots of sillyness and a new high tech editing system and display system (I even have large touch screen displays where requested).

How does it work I hear you ask! Well after the meal and speeches I set up a pop up background which only requires 6ft of working space so it can fit in most venues and using small portable lights and a big box of fun props the photo fun is ready to go...... The idea is that guests (some drunk some not so drunk!) see the props and decide to dress up and pose for some great shots. Generally uptake is very good and it gives the guests something to do. The photos taken will appear shortly after on monitors or touch screens so people can see and the next day a downloadable gallery will be online for them to get any photos they want. Then when you collect your wedding photographs you will also receive the images from the photo fun session printed out at 6x4 inches. Wedding Photography at Rogerthorpe Manor Badsworth

The day started with bridal preparations at the bride's home to capture the bride's accessories and the exciting bit of the dress going on!! We then made our way to the local church for the ceremony and the bride was nearly blown away as the wind decided to make a very strong appearance. The ceremony went without a hitch and after a confetti shot and a bit of bride and groom wedding photography it was time to go to Rogerthorpe Manor for the group shots and a well earned drink! The weather was not with us so we shot the group shots in the conservatory but this provided a great backdrop for the photographs. After the meal there was time for a few casual shots before the bride and groom did their first dance which had the guests in floods of tears!!

Here comes the snow at St John's Church Leeds

When I arrived at St John's Church Leeds there was not a flake of snow in sight but then just in time for the groom to arrive the snow came with him and we had a blizzard on our hands!! This didn't stop us and we carried on with some out door shots of the groom and his men. The snow continued for the bride arriving but this added to the wintery feel of the day. The group shots were taken inside the church as the snow was not giving up but we did manage a couple of shots with the car in the snow which looked great. We then made our way to the Stroom in Pudsey for a confetti shot and a few casuals before a cupcake fight with the bride and groom.

A Very Windy Day at Kings Croft Hotel Pontefract

When I arrived at Kings Croft Hotel Pontefract the wind was blowing a gale and it was very cold, but the groom and best man braved the wind and we managed to grab a few shots before the it became too cold!! The bride arrived and after a few shots in the doorway to protect them from the wind it was time for the ceremony to begin, which was filled with laughter and a few tears. We then braved the wind again for a group shot and also a very fast moving confetti shot!! The family group shots were taken inside Kings Croft and worked really well. After a quick break it was time for the bride and groom wedding photography, we stayed in the courtyard due to the wind but this didn't stop us producing some lovely images. A Cold but Sunny Day at Bagden Hall Scissett

I have visited Bagden Hall Scissett a few times but this was the first visit for the new wedding season. I enjoy Bagden Hall as a photographic venue as the possibilities are endless!! The day started with the groom and best man who were in high spirits even though it was really cold and did a brilliant jumping shot!! The bride arrived and after a few shots by the lovely warm fire it was time for the day to begin. The ceremony was filled with laughter and the light created some beautiful shots too!! We then braved the cold for the group shots and before the bride turned blue we had a quick break to warm up!! We then moved onto the bride and groom wedding photography and explored Bagden Hall to create some lovely wedding photography. After a quick mock cutting of the cake it was time for me to take my leave and let the bride and groom enjoy the rest of their day!! A Cold and Windy Day at Dimple Well Lodge Ossett

Another Winter wedding, this time at Dimple Well Lodge Ossett. For people who follow this blog you will know its not my first wedding at Dimple Well Lodge. The wedding started at 3pm with some photography with the groom and best man who were up for everything. When the bride arrived the wind was blowing and after a few shots with a very flappy veil it was time for the ceremony to start! The ceremony was lovely with tears all round! It was then time for the group shot and confetti which worked amazing well with the wind!! The rest of the day was filled with group shots and some great bride and groom wedding photography again we used the wind to our advantage!! Another Wintry Wedding in York

As you will have seen from looking at the blog lots of people get married in winter and the weather conditions are often less than ideal!! This wedding was a little different because it was completely dark even before the ceremony started! The bride arrived in darkness to be greeted by the church lit up with candles which created a very cosy atmosphere. The ceremony was lovely and had a very cosy feel. We ventured outside for a group shot but unfortunately the weather was not with us so back into the church we went for some group shots and bride and groom wedding photography. We then made our way to The Merchant Taylors in York to grab some casuals, a few more group shots and a mock cutting of the cake before I left. I hope that the bride and groom have a very long and happy life together!

Album News

Album supply is now returning to normal following a mad Christmas rush for albums, I have spoken to my most popular supplier who was completely overwhelmed at Christmas but is getting back to normal which means my supply times will speed up a little bit now. Just a reminder though the stated return times on normal storybooks are between 1 and 3 months excluding holiday periods and this is something I have no control over, Graphi studio is slightly longer than this. Digital albums are typically between 1 and 2 months return time although this is dependent upon my supplier obtaining stock. I don't carry a large stock of albums and usually albums are ordered once the design is approved. If I do receive notice in advance of stock shortages or discontinuation of albums they will be ordered sooner where ever possible.

Due to the large amount of albums I had to throw away in 2011 once albums have arrived at the studio I will keep them safe and in perfect condition for 30 days for clients to collect however if after this time you've not collected your album, arranged a date to collect it or asked for it posting out then it will be put back into stock and will need to be re ordered when you are ready. There are several reasons for this, the first is the studio gets very damp and cold when no one is in for a few days and this damages the pages of the albums over a period of time and they subsequently have to be binned. In a normal house the albums will be fine but when exposed to constant cold and damp like the studio gets they tend to warp. I don't want to give an album that isn't perfect, when I hand it over I want it to be in perfect condition and beautifully presented. The second reason is that at popular times of the year album demand is very high especially Christmas time and its not fair that people have to wait whilst other albums have been sat idle for months.

I'm Becoming a Regular Here - Waterton Park Hotel Wakefield

During the Winter season I have been at Waterton Park Hotel Wakefield for Wedding Photography several times and more times than I can remember throughout 2011!! And there I was again!! Although no matter how many times I work at Waterton Park Hotel Wakefield I still love it as a venue. The day started with some bridal preparations at Waterton Park Hotel and the bride, bridesmaid and her mum were all in good spirits! After a few shots with the groom and his men it was time for the ceremony to begin. The ceremony didn't finish until 3.30pm and at this time in mid Winter the light was limited so we rushed outside for a group shot and confetti and we were lucky enough to get some bride and groom wedding photography before the light ran out!! We then moved onto the group shots with the lovely background of the library at Waterton Park Hotel.

The rest of the day was filled with speeches, with the bridesmaid giving a brilliant speech probably the best I have heard in a long time, then onto the night shots, Waterton Park Hotel is brilliant at night and can create some stunning images and then it was time for the first dance where the groom picked the bride up and swung her around the dance floor!! Thank you to the bride and groom for bearing the cold to create some brilliant images.

Back to Doncaster Registry Office I Go!

Doncaster Registry office is becoming quite a regular venue for me for wedding photography and I must say that I do like it as a photography venue. With the park just a few feet away and the trees and grass just outside for group shots its great!! My day started with some wedding photography with the groom and his men and then it was time to wait for the bride to arrive. The bride looked beautiful and the colour of the bridesmaid dresses worked really well with the winter colours. The ceremony was intimate and the group shots afterwards produced a lovely confetti shot. After the group shots it was time for some bride and groom wedding photography in the park. We then moved onto the reception venue for a quick mock cutting of the cake and a few group shots before I left the happy couple to enjoy the rest of their special day.

Wedding Photography at Mercure Hotel Bradford

Another wintry day was waiting for me when I arrived at the Mercure Hotel Bradford to capture some bridal preparations with the bride and her party. I then went to a local church for some wedding photography with the groom and his groomsmen as you can see the groom was in a playful mood and replaced the wedding rings for jelly sweets, I'm sure the bride wouldn't have been amused if they had stayed that way!! Thankfully the ceremony went without a hitch and it was time for a big group shot and some bride and groom wedding photography.
We then made our way to the Mercure Hotel Bradford for some more bride and groom wedding photography and also the group shots. After a mock cutting of the cake it was time for me to leave the bride and groom to enjoy the rest of their day. I hope that the bride and groom have a long and happy life together.

Wedding Photography at Wakefield Town Hall

Believe it or not to say that I have a studio based in Wakefield I don't often work in Wakefield for wedding photography so it made a nice change to be smack bang in the centre of Wakefield!! The day started at St John's Church just up the road from Wakefield Town Hall and the weather was wintry to say the least. After some shots with the groom and groomsmen the heavens opened and the rain was so heavy that it was difficult to see if the bride was arriving!! Thankfully the rain stopped just five minutes before the bride and her dad arrived and we got a few shots before the cold became too much and ceremony was due to start.

After the ceremony we all braved the icy wind and went outside for a group shot and thankfully because of the cold the guests had to get close to stay warm!! We then went back into the church to capture some great wedding photography with the bride and groom. Then it was time to make our way to Wakefield Town Hall for the group shots and a well earned drink for the bride and groom. I took my leave after a mock cutting of the cake and thank you to the bride and groom for giving everything a go.

Wedding Photography at Whirlow Grange Sheffield

This is another visit to Sheffield for wedding photography and the day was cold but dry... for the time being... I arrived at St Chads Church to be greeted by a lovely church and a very eager groom and best man which is always nice, so we braved the wind, cold and drizzle to get some shots of the two of them. The bride arrived in a VW campervan and after a few shots with the bride and her party it was time for the ceremony to start. As we left the ceremony the weather took a turn for the worst and the wind got stronger and the rain started so after a quick confetti shot we made our way to Whirlow Grange Sheffield.

Due to the weather and the dark which is unfortunately a feature of winter weddings the rest of the photography had to be done indoors but this didn't put us off and after a few groups shots and some bride and groom wedding photography it was time for a mock cutting of the cake and for me to take my leave and let the bride and groom and their guests enjoy the rest of their day. All the best to the bride and groom in their new life together.

A Wintery Day at Waterton Park Hotel Wakefield

Through the wedding season I have visited Waterton Park Wakefield lots of times and every time I go the wedding photography is always different and the couple's all put their own stamp on the photography!!

The day started with bridal preparations at Waterton Park Wakefield and when I arrived the bride and bridesmaids were relaxed and ready for the day ahead. After a few shots of the dress and the gorgeous bride's shoes it was time for the dress to go on and we even had time for a few posed group shots before the ceremony. The groom and best man were up for some fun and because the weather was a bit rainy they had a battle with their umbrellas!!

The ceremony was lovely with lots of laughter and some great shots!! The rest of the day was filled with group shots and some cheeky sunset shots. After the meal we braced the cold and wet and did some great sparkler shots and night shots.

Wedding Photography Preston

A Return to The Casa Hotel Brighouse

It's always nice to go back to venues that I don't often work at and today saw me back at The Casa Hotel Brighouse with a great bride and groom for wedding photography. The day started at home for the bride's preparations and then on to a local church for the ceremony.

Group shots followed the ceremony and then we were on our way to The Casa Hotel Brighouse for a well earned rest and some more wedding photography with the bride and groom. The day was filled with fun and even had the bride and groom having a go on the bouncy castle, it would have been rude not to!! Waterton Park Hotel Wakefield is one of my most popular wedding venues and today saw me back at Waterton Park Hotel Wakefield with a great bride and groom for wedding photography again!! The day started with bridal preparations at the hotel and then it was time for some groomsmen shots. The bride was getting ready in the new bit of the hotel so she didn't have to make the windy journey across the bridge for the ceremony which was filled with laughter and lots of smiles.

It was then time for the group shots which saw me hanging out of the window again but its worth it!! Then we managed a few bride and groom shots before the rain came!! Through the speeches there was tears and lots of laughter and after a quick trip outside to get some night shots it was time for the first dance, that produced some amazing images!!

Wedding Photography at the Exclusive Bolton Castle

When I first met the bride and groom from today's wedding and found out that they were getting married at Bolton Castle I didn't realise how exclusive the venue was, they only hold a handful of weddings a year there. When I arrived at Bolton Castle for the bridal preparations the weather was crisp and sunny just what you would expect of a winters day and I was amazed by the castle and opportunities that it could offer for wedding photography.The bride was in great spirits when I arrived and had great fun trying to get into her dress!!

The groom and his men were up for a bit of everything even putting the groom in the stocks that were in the courtyard, it just had to be done. The ceremony was held in the Solar room and was filled with laughter and lots of emotion. It was then time for the group shots and some bride and groom wedding photography, to show off their venue and also the bride and groom together. The rest of the day was lovely and we even went into the cellars of the castle to get some brilliant moody images. Thank you to the bride and groom for giving everything a go!!

Wedding Photography at Doncaster Registry Office

A very short notice wedding!! Having only booked a month before I had never met the bride and groom prior to the wedding so I was a little nervous, even more so when it was raining when I left the studio in Wakefield, but in Doncaster where the wedding was it was clear blue skies and sunshine.

The ceremony went perfectly and when we got outside the sun was still shining!! After some group shots we visited the local park which is right next to Doncaster Registry office for some great bride and groom wedding photographs, the park was unusually busy for a Friday afternoon but thanks to the wonders of photo shop you don't see that, then after a mock cutting of the cake it was time for me to leave them to enjoy the rest of their day.

Wet Weather at The Stables High Melton Doncaster

The Winter season for wedding photography had definitely started when I arrived at The Holmefield Arms Wakefield, it was wet, raining and already getting dark the service wasn't until 4.30pm!! The groom and groomsmen didn't let this bother them and I got some great shots before the bride and bridesmaids arrived. Then it was into a beautiful vintage car for the journey to the church for the ceremony. Then we jumped in the car and headed to Smokies Hotel for some casual shots and a well earned drink for the bride and groom. The rest of the day was filled with laughter and some great speeches. Areturn to Oakwell Hall Gomersal

Today saw me back at Oakwell Hall Gomersal which is proving to be a very popular venue for me at the moment and it is always a pleasure to return there. The day started with bridal preparations at home and then it was onto Oakwell Hall Gomersal for the ceremony which was lovely. After the ceremony it was time for a group shot and some bride and groom time within the grounds of Oakwell Hall Gomersal, then we made our way to a venue I haven't visited before but will be visiting more in the future Gomersal Lodge. Here we did some more family group shots and visited a little bridge that is hidden away from everyone for a few bride and groom shots. It was then time for a quick mock cutting of the cake and for me to leave the bride and groom to enjoy the rest of their day.

Wedding Photography at The White Horse Featherstone

This was my first visit to The White Horse Featherstone for wedding photography. The weather was a bit on the unpredictable side but we battled on regardless. The sun shone for the groomsmen shots but then the heavens opened just in time for the bride's arrival!! However this didn't put a dampener on the day and the ceremony was very emotional and filled with laughter. Then it was time for the group shots and down the rain came again!! This didn't stop me from getting some lovely bride and groom shots if the bride and groom are happy to get a bit wet then so am I!! After a few group shots it was time for me to leave the bride and groom to enjoy their special day. Thank you to the bride and groom for laughing through the rain!!!

Wedding Photography at Ardsley House Barnsley

As people who look at the blog on a regular basis will know, I am one very busy bee who gets all over Yorkshire, and beyond in fact in the last 6 months I have photographed weddings in Manchester, Scunthorpe, Hull and Preston to name but a few. Today saw me at Barnsley Registry office which is a great registry office and somewhere I wish I could work more at simply because the building and area are lovely for wedding photography and the staff are as nice as you could wish for. The bride and groom had a simple ceremony here before heading to Ardsley House Barnsley for their wedding reception.

When I arrived at Whitley Hall Sheffield, I went on a hunt for the famous Peacocks and also the groom!! After a few shots with him and his best man it was time to wait for the bride to arrive. The ceremony was different to what I normally cover as the bride and groom were already married but this didn't stop it being a lovely event. Wedding Album Deadlines

A little reminder for anyone who has not visited the studio lately, the deadline for Christmas delivery on storybook albums is Monday 31st of October. So if your wanting a storybook, album choices need to be in before this date and approved for print by you by this date.

The deadline for digital albums is Monday 14th of November, any albums not approved by this date will not be ready for Christmas. If your wanting an album for Christmas please submit the album choices before these dates as they also need design time and its only possible to design 2 albums per week due to the time involved.

I will close for Christmas on Friday 16th December and work will re commence on Monday 9th of January 2012. Although I know numerous clients are getting married between these dates and this will be unaffected. These dates merely refer to the times I will be working in the studio so don't panic I will still be turning up as planned!!!!!

A return to Bagden Hall Denby Dale Wakefield

Having not done wedding photography at Bagden Hall for a while i was looking forward to what this day was going to bring. It started with bridal preparations at Bagden Hall Denby Dale Wakefield and all the girls were in a good mood and this produced some great images!! Then it was time to jump in the car and make our way to a beautiful local church where the groom and groomsmen were waiting for the bride to arrive. After a few shots its was time for the bride to arrive. The church was beautiful inside and the service produced some lovely images too many to choose for this blog!! After a confetti tunnel and a quick group shot it was time to make our way back to Bagden Hall Denby Dale Wakefield for some more group shots and the wedding breakfast. After the speeches the bride and groom were up for exploring Bagden Hall as much as I was and the results were amazing. A return to the Woodlands Leeds

The day started with me arriving at a church that I have visited many times before!! After some shots with the groomsmen it was time for the bride to arrive, and what an arrival she made, the groom had arranged for a horse drawn carriage to bring the bride to the church!!! The ceremony was filled with laughter and after a few group shots it was time for us to make our way to The Woodlands Leeds. While waiting for the bride and groom to arrive its takes a long time in a horse drawn carriage!! I took the opportunity to grab some great casuals and photograph the reception marque. When the bride and groom arrived there was just enough time to grab a few last group shots and some bride and groom wedding photography. The day ended with a mock cutting of the cake and i left the bride and groom at The Woodlands Leeds to enjoy the rest of their day.

The day started with bridal preparations at the bride's home and was followed by some great goomsmen wedding photography at the local church, then it was time for the bride to arrive. After a few shots it was time for the bride to make her big entrance. The ceremony was lovely and produced some great natural shots. It was then time for the group shots and a stop off at a local park before we arrived at Briar Court Hotel Huddersfield. The rest of the day was filled with laughter and some great speeches at the Briar Court Hotel Huddersfield, it was time then for the first dance and for me to take my leave and let the bride and groom enjoy their special day!!

When I arrived at the Hey Green Hotel Marsden I was faced with a very gloomy sky and lots of rain, this didn't stop the groomsmen who were more than happy to do some wedding photography in the rain!! The bride arrived and after a couple of shots it was time for the ceremony to begin, this went without a hitch then it was time for the group shots. The great British weather being as it is made for a very interesting group shot in the reception area of the Hey Green Hotel Marsden but then the rain stopped and we could go outside!! This was my first visit to The Grosvenor Pulford Hotel Chester for wedding photography. The day started with bridal preparations at the Grosvenor Pulford Hotel Chester with some beautiful images of the bride getting ready. The groom and best man were up for a bit of fun so we did one of the best jumps that I have captured this season!!
The ceremony was lovely in a really purple room that went well with the theme for the day. The day was filled with group shots and some bride and groom time which involved getting the bride on an amazing table for a great shot!!

Amazing Baby Bump Photography Wakefield

For quite a while now I have been shooting Baby Bump Photography at my Wakefield Photography Studio. Baby Bump Photography is a chance to capture the last few weeks before your baby is due. A lot of clients have their Baby Bump Photography done around about the 38 week mark as the bump is normally at its biggest then!!!

Product and Commercial Photography

Recently I have been asking lots of people for opinions, and what I've discovered is most people don't know much about what I do, or what I offer. Less than half of everyone I spoke to didn't even know that there is a very large fully equipped photography studio upstairs with lots of the latest lighting units and accessories.

I love weddings and I always will but as a photographer I also photograph some of the more technical stuff, and it is highly likely that you have seen an image somewhere on the internet that I have taken,produced or had some involvement with be it website images, advertising leaflets, images in the newspaper or I have even worked with Surgicare on an advertising campaign. Inside the office are cubicles dedicated just to product photography, and the upstairs studio also gets used for products whenever something is too big to fit on the downstairs tables.

Product shoots are completely different from wedding photography and it really interesting trying to get an apple for instance to look interesting or knowing that this product your shooting is going to be viewed by millions of people worldwide.

Product shots are great for online or magazine advertising and all product shots are supplied with BASIC clipping paths allowing the client with minimum effort to insert their own background be it a gradient, clean white, black or anything else. The images can be available for download or supplied on a disc both in high and low resolution 24 hours after the shoot. Prices start from £6.00 per image. So if you have anything that you would like photographing for websites, advertising material etc then please give me a call!!!

I arrived at the bride's home for bridal preparations and was met by a house of full of noise and hustle and bustle well there was 13 bridesmaids and page boys to look after!! After getting some shots of the bride getting her dress on i was on my way to the local church to catch up with the groom and best man for their photography. The bride arrived and it was time for the ceremony to begin which included the vicar giving the bride and groom and umbrella!!

Bad News.....Album Delays

Its summer time again and album requests are coming by the bucket load!! This means that production times on album designs is taking longer than expected and we are currently at 3 to 4 weeks design time as opposed to the normal 2 weeks!

The reason for the increase in times is that only 2 to 3 albums can be designed in any given week and although i never photograph more than eight album packages a month to make sure i have design time for every album, in any holiday period everybody always submits requests at once. In the last 2 weeks i have received 12 album requests ranging from weddings taken anything from last summer to a month ago.

So if you are waiting for your album proofs please be patient!! I will get to you soon!!

More Bad News....... As happens at the peak of summer storybook wedding albums are taking a lot longer to arrive than normal, i am told my supplier is extremely busy and all orders will be fulfilled as soon as possible. This only applies to storybook albums which have to be individually printed on specialist machinery and as such i have no control over how long they take, normal albums are uneffected and shipping within normal timescales!!

I arrived at The Rock Hotel Halifax with the sun shining!! The groom and groomsmen were already waiting!! The bride was getting ready at The Rock Hotel Halifax so i popped in to get a couple of pre wedding shots!! The rest of the day was filled with group shots and a quick trip to the local park before a cutting of the cake just before the wedding breakfast.

I arrived at Burntwood Court Barnsley to amazing blue sky and a very nervous groom!! The day started with some groomsmen shots and casuals then it was time for the ceremony which was beautiful and very emotional for the bride. This was followed by some family group shots and then it was time for the bride and groom's photography, we took advantage of the amazing sky and also the field, this produced some amazing shots there were too many to pick for this blog!! Wedding Photography at the Holmefield Arms Wakefield

The day started with brilliant sunshine and lots of guests. The groomsmen were in high spirits and did a great jumping shot. The ceremony was filled with laughter and was followed by a group shot and confetti and some bride and groom wedding photography. It was then off to The Holmefield Arms Wakefield for some more group shots and some beautiful bride and groom photography in the near by park. The day started at a local church for a beautiful ceremony and group shots, then it was onto The Old Rectory Sheffield for some bride and groom and casual wedding photographs. The weather stayed with us and put everybody in a really great mood. This is the first time that i have visited the Old Rectory Sheffield and there are some good spots for wedding photography. Wedding Photography at Sandburn Hall Flaxton York

Well it has been a while since i visited Sandburn Hall Flaxton York but i still love the venue. The room where the ceremony takes place is amazing and the surrounding fields are brilliant!! The groom arrived with his groomsmen in style and it would have been rude not to include the Bentley in some of the groom's shots. The bride arrived looking beautiful and relaxed and the ceremony went like a dream. The rest of the day was filled with group shots and some great field shots with the bride and groom.
